About Suzanne

With over 25 years’ experience in community and public health, nonprofits, philanthropy,  and education, I blend strategic thinking with a practical approach. I partner with social change organizations to lead teams, launch programs, navigate change, and build capacity. In short, I turn a vision into reality.

Whether it’s leading public health teams to respond to COVID, coaching community health centers to implement programs for people experiencing homelessness, or strategizing with leaders to approach a problem in a new way, I enable mission-driven organizations do their best work.

Currently I lead the Health Promotion & Quality Improvement unit at the California Department of Public Health. Previously I ran the COVID response program for 2 counties at LifeLong Medical Care, a Community Based Organization and community clinic.

Before launching my consulting practice in 2014, I spent 7 years at Kaiser Permanente Community Benefit. Before that, I worked at the University of California for a decade, as a book editor at UC Press and rolling out innovation programs for the California Digital Library.

An Oakland resident and native, outside the office you can find me shopping for jujubes at the farmers’ market, talking to students as a member of the Holocaust Center Next Generation Speakers Bureau, or hiking local trails with my husband and daughter.
